AS/NZS 3760-2003
The Australian Standard AS3760-2003 was designed to ensure safer work places when it comes to electrical safety.
The standards require that all businesses take relevant steps to ensure that staff and visitors are safe by having the electrical appliances tested and tagged on a regular basis.

How Does This affect my Coin Operations Business?
It’s pretty simple, as an Industry, we supply our equipment on revenue share to various locations, and these locations are "Work Places".
The Owners and Managers of these businesses have a duty of care to provide a safe place to work for their employees, their customers
and themselves.
It is the specific responsibility of the location to ensure that all electrical equipment meets all electrical safety standards.
As the supplier of the machine,YOU are responsible for your equipments safety,

Customer Safety.
The benefits of having a safe Arcade machine are as large as it is indefinable.
The cost of just one accident though could be enormous, especially considering that when an electrical accident occurs, they are often "Fatal"
The potential of an Injury to a sites customers or staff, could have you dealing with an Industrial Manslaughter charge, Litigation claims for loss and suffering,
Your business would most probably suffer from lost revenue stemming from the closing down of the site, the customers could lose confidence in your equipment,
Your equipment could be impounded pending investigations by the relevant authorities, the media would draw attention to the incident affecting your entire operations
and add up the lost time dealing with the endless WorkCover and Insurance investigations.
The safety of your customers would also make good business sense

Integrity of Insurance.
The fine print in your Insurance Policies requires you to fulfill all legal requirements to remain covered by your insurance.
A failure to comply with this legislation provides an easy out for your Insurance Company should you have a fire or workplace injury – even if an electrical fault was not the cause of the problem.

Safety of your physical assets.
Electrical faults in equipment are one of the greatest causes of electrical fires.
Can your business afford the loss of equipment and revenue? A loss of client confidence that inevitably will follow a fire?
Testing also has the benefit of highlighting some minor problems before they become larger more expensive problems.

What needs to be checked?
Basically ever piece of equipment that has an AC power cord,
Pinballs, Video games, Skilltesters, and the extension leads, powerboards and strips that you use to power up this equipment

Electrical Safety Test.
We test every piece of outgoing equipment for the following:
Physical Test. To visually check that the equipment and lead is in good repair
Polarity Test. To ensure that the equipment is wired correctly.
Insulation Test. To test the insulation to ensure that it is not allowing leakage or earthing.
Earth Continuity test. To test the integrity of the earth system

How Often Do I need to do this?
This is a bit harder to answer,
It depends on what your business provides,
For all rentals and hires, the rule is it must be checked Prior to EVERY rental.
For Commercial premises ( Pubs, Bowling alleys and FEC's ) the recommended rule is every 6 Months to 12 Months,
Depending on the situation and environment where the equipment is located,
For all Repaired, Serviced and Second hand equipment, bit is required to be inspected prior to re-introduction to service.

What is Zax Amusement's Involvement in this?
Pretty simple,
We have trained, accredited and industry experienced technicians who can "Test and Tag" not only machines,
Leads & powerboards, but who can provide the technical assistance if the equipment is not up to standard.

We can supply new powerleads, replace plug ends, and refit cabinet earth lines to the full satisfaction of the standard.
This work can be performed in our large technical workshop, and even on-site if required.
We insist that all equipment that leaves our premises is tagged,
this includes our own equipment, sales, and customer repairs, all customers are advised when work needs to be done,
and are explained why.

For all information and prices on our "test and Tag" operations please email shannon@zax.com.au
